Kos love
Darknet gets some Daily Kos love. Glad you're blown away, Markos, thanks for spreading the word about the assault on our digital rights.

I'm very interested in this book. But I was somewhat disappointed to see that there is no eBook version available at Amazon. This has become my favorite way to buy books, as it satisfies my need for instant gratification, it consumes no physical resources, and I can carry multiple books around on my Treo. Plus, it seems like a natural for this particular book.
Anyway, I look forward to reading it...eventually. =)

I came to this site from Kos, very interesting. I did post a comment at the URL below, to the effect that "Darknet" is not a new concept (as you claim on that URL), and isn't even that original a phrase, given that the cypherpunks were talking about "Blacknet" in the 90's, and discussing (in depth) essentially the same issues regarding piracy, cryptography, the internet and so on.
While I have no doubt that the reality of 2005 can be meaningfully contrasted with the crypto-anarcho-libertarians' projections of 1994, one should not ignore that earlier discourse on this topic. Apart from anything else, it directly informed the development of tools like BitTorrent. Of course, things like the MPAA's aggressive response are new, but the idea that this is concept has just appeared from nowhere is rather misleading (for example, even back the cypherpunks were confidently predicting more draconian punishments just over the horizon).
Here are my other comments, with links to the Cyphernomicon (an oft-quoted cypherpunks' FAQ):
